Firecats Clip Knights, 5-4, in R1 Contest
|
The Nashville Firecats went the distance and then some at Neutral Fields to drag themselves back into a tie with the Brooklyn Knights.
It took 10 innings to settle Game 2 of the League Series, but Nashville eventually took the 5-4 win behind the efforts of pitcher Paco Rivera. Rivera threw 6.0 innings allowing 4 runs to aid the Nashville cause. The clubs are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-7 series.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Dave Groot? The two-time Slick Fielder Award winner Groot stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Nashville up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Paco was pounding the zone," said Nashville manager Alfredo Verquer.
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Neutral Fields.
